IFW wins prestigious Sipa award
IFW, formerly known International Freighting Weekly, has scooped a prestigious Specialised Information Publishers Association (Sipa) award for its online networking efforts.
The 2011 Sipa Best Use of Social Networks award went to IFW for its use of LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook to help bring publication and readership closer together.
Judges said they were impressed by the growth of the IFW LinkedIn group, which, after just a year, has over 2,500 members and is the seventh most popular cargo LinkedIn group in the world. Last year IFW had six followers on Twitter. In 2011 that figure has grown to over 800. Award judges said they were also impressed by the way social networks have been used to promote content, supplements and the IFW Awards.
IFW Editor Kizzi Nkwocha, who collected the award along with IFW’s marketing guru, Magdalena Orpel, said: “This award really means a lot to us. Not only is it nice to be rewarded for doing something well, but it also shows that our efforts to build an online community around IFW is working and is being noticed.
“You only have to visit our LinkedIn page and see how industry thought-leaders are engaging in debates on the hottest topics in the market to understand why we deserved to win this award.”
